Parish Bulletin
From our Principal
I love this painting by Elizabeth Wang. She was an artist with wonderful abilities who painted the essence of many Christian themes. This painting is called ‘All Saints’. We see the ‘saints’, almost like upright candles, standing in communion around the central figure of Christ. To the right of the painting is a person, kneeling and illuminated by the light, representing us… in the midst of Christ and Saints… all one big family.
This week the Catholic community commemorates All Saints and All Souls Day. As we move through this time I am thinking especially of those who have lost loved ones and of those who have carried grief for a long time. I am grateful that the Catholic calendar provides these days to do what so many of us do throughout the year - to remember loved ones who are no longer here but who continue to journey with us.
School Disco
I would like to thank Michelle Start (mother of Charlotte in grade 5) who organised the school disco. Michelle’s creativity was in full swing and she was able to combine art, food, dancing, culture and education into a successful event. She is unbelievably talented and generous with her time and talents. Thanks Michelle!
The disco was a very well attended event with 126/141 students (and some little siblings in tow) carving it up on the dance floor. DJ - Ben Naus provided some awesome tunes and had the ability to engage all the students to have-a-go regardless of their dance experience. I would like to thank the following people who helped out on the night or beforehand to get the event up and running (I hope I haven’t missed anyone) Michelle Start, Emily Start, Nat Louder, Emma Preston, Sarah Moran, Faith Martin, Jess Humphries, Meg Harrington, Nicki McAloon, Ellie Fordham, Jess Marsh and Charlotte Start. As always our fabulous teaching team were there to do whatever was needed to support the experience for all of our students. Thanks also to local businesses InterSport and M-Mart for their support of the disco. The disco raised $741 with an infinite amount of fun had by all!
It would be great if we could get some more hands on deck for future events. Please contact the school to volunteer your support for future events in whatever capacity you can (big or small).
Resilient Ararat Art Trail
This year we engaged with Resilience Ararat as part of their Art Trail project. This project aims to highlight the importance of resilience, gratitude and empathy within our school. The final outcome was the production of a series of 11 weather-proof, framed art panels. Our panel is on display at the front of our school and is a part of the Art Trail throughout the Ararat Rural City area. The hope is that the establishment of this trail will be a visual reminder in the community of the importance of GEM (Gratitude, Empathy & Mindfulness) and the school’s involvement in the project, creating an element of sustainability for the project’s key messages.
Every blessing for the week ahead
