From Our Principal

Dear families,

This week our teaching team met with Jodie McGeary, our Pastoral Support Worker, to deepen our understanding about the social and emotional needs of our students. Social and emotional learning involves students having opportunities to learn and practise social skills such as cooperation, managing conflict, making friends, coping, being resilient and recognising and managing their own feelings. Fostering positive relationships and explicitly teaching the necessary skills required for students to build their capacity as social beings will continue to be a priority for us at St Mary’s.

Loving God

You gifted us with relationships and created us to be social beings.

Relationships are some of the very best and most beautiful parts of this life.

They reflect the heart of our God in so many ways -- reminding us of how loved we are, encouraging us in moments of weakness, uplifting our weary spirits, challenging us to grow, and inviting us into the fullness of life.

While relationships won't always be easy, remind us that they are worth it.

Give us wisdom to care for others with empathy and respect.

Guide us to forgive when others make mistakes and hurt us.

Lead us to bring our whole and best selves to our relationships with others.

Amen.

Every blessing,

Roxanne

Senior Learning Community Camp

Congratulations to the 5/6 Learning Community on a successful Urban Camp experience. It was a privilege to be a part of the energy, enthusiasm and rigorous learning opportunities it provided. Jo Price’s leadership was exemplary ensuring that all students felt safe and supported to engage fully in the experience. Simon Edge was in his element guiding the learning at each venue and sharing his own knowledge of the subject matter. Our amazing parent helpers were so generous to offer their time and support to camp - Richie Griffiths, Jess Marsh, Dennis Harrington and Nat Louder, thank you so very much!
