FROM THE LOTE ROOM CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

Friday, February 12th, is the beginning of Chinese New Year. This week we started exploring the story of Nian and how the traditions of Chinese New Year came to be. Focusing on telling stories, the children created their own ‘My story dragon’ puppets. We shared these as a school while eating different fruits symbolising various meanings in Chinese.
Additionally, every fortnight two children will be chosen for a Chinese award. This award focuses on their engagement and development of the Chinese language. Keep your eye out for next newsletter where the first students will be announced.
