From Our Principal

Dear families,

Lent comes around each year and invites us to take stock of our lives -  to see more clearly what is in our hearts and to discover what it means to be the best version of ourselves.  It is a time to consider how we respond to each other, how we treat our environment and how we can grow closer to God.  From time to time you may hear your child tell you that they have been involved in a restorative conversation at School. In line with our School Wide Positive Behaviour approach, we utilise this strategy to restore right relationships and bring about healing after some hurt or harm has been done to others. Central to this approach is the understanding that conflict is a normal and natural part of our human interaction – it is how we deal with it that determines if the conflict will be carried as a hurt or if we can use it for growth and an opportunity for new understanding. Restorative practice has, at its heart, the key Gospel values of reconciliation, responsibility, reintegration and resolution of conflict. It allows individuals to work through what happened and seek positive outcomes.

From Jan Richardson’s Blessing of the Dust;

This is the moment
we ask for the blessing
that lives within
the ancient ashes,
that makes its home
inside the soil of
this ancient earth.

So let us be marked
not for sorrow.
And let us be marked
not for shame.

Let us be marked
not for false humility
or for thinking
we are less
than we are

But for claiming
what God can do
within the dust,
within the dirt
within the stuff
of which the world
is made
and the stars that blaze
in our bones
and the galaxies that spiral
inside the smudge we bear

Every blessing for this Lenten season
Roxanne

Foundation - Visit to Church

Father Andrew gave our Foundation students a guided tour of the Church yesterday! We located some art that depicted Mary and Jesus, heard the special bell ring and got to sing along to a beautiful organ! We also met Sister Maree and Jill who work in our Parish.

Gaming- turning it into a positive experience 16th March 7-7.30pm

www.eSmart.page.link/gaming

Our children get a lot out of video games. And when you understand how your child games, how gaming can be good for them and how your child can avoid gaming downsides, it can be good for your relationship too. Come along and hear about just how prevalent gaming is, and how to support your child to make gaming a beneficial hobby and to turn the tussle over gaming time on its head.
