Term 4 Week 7 - Thurday 18th November 2021
Middle Learning Community News
Hi Middle Learning Community families,
How have we found ourselves at the end of Week 7 of Term 4 already? Time is certainly flying. We have had the opportunity to participate in a number of exciting learning opportunities already this term, including Whole School Prayer, The Ararat Random Acts of Kindness initiative, Buddy Program - just to name a few.
Speaking of exciting learning, you may have had your child speak to you about the ‘Unity Space’ they are creating while we are focusing on this topic in Religious Education. Groups of students are working together to create a space in the yard that celebrates ‘unity’ at St Mary’s. Our beautiful students have taken this opportunity and are running with it - and the learning they are unpacking during this time has already been amazing. Please feel free to talk to your child about not only what they are creating for our ‘Unity Space’ but the reason behind their choices. There have been some students who during the planning stage of this project have wanted to bring materials from home or even asked to buy things. Teachers want to make it very clear to our families that there is no expectation materials come from home or anything is purchased for this project. Students have been told this also. If you are happy to get rid of any extra materials from home however, they are welcomed at school.
There may be a few things on your mind as we begin the run home to Christmas. Firstly, we have made some amended MLC camp plans. After much flexibility, numerous phone calls, countless emails, amended plans and accommodation from Cave Hill Creek - we have been able to set a new date!
MLC students will go for a ‘Day Camp’ on Thursday 9th December. We will now be spending the day exploring, learning and sharing experiences at the Cave Hill Creek facilities before heading back to school and sleeping there the same night. This will be followed by a day of activities in Ararat the next day. This was the only possible way we have been able to still keep our plans with Cave Hill Creek due to the mandated cancellation we made earlier in the year. More specific camp details will be sent to you via PAM in the coming days. Please contact your classroom teacher if you have any questions regarding this.
As we make our way through the last weeks of term we are soaking up every minute with this lovely bunch of students and feel very blessed to have had such a lovely (albeit unpredictable) year with them. As always, please feel free to get in contact if you have any wonderings.
Kind regards,
Georgie and Jess
