Newsletter Term 1 Week 8 - Friday 21st March 2025

Dear families, 

I love the Prayer of St Patrick. And on St Patrick’s Day I was able to pray this with some students of MLC 2. 

As I arise today,
may the strength of God pilot me,
the power of God uphold me,
the wisdom of God guide me.

May the eye of God look before me,
the ear of God hear me,
the word of God speak for me.

May the hand of God protect me,
the way of God lie before me,
the shield of God defend me,
the host of God save me.

May Christ shield me today.

Christ with me, Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit,
Christ when I stand,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

This week has seen the use of our new and transformative collaborative learning spaces. We have intentionally designed these learning spaces with flexibility in mind. The aim is to encourage students to collaborate, take ownership of their learning journey and allow more opportunities for a more personalised learning approach. We want our students to feel a greater sense of agency over how and where they learn. The open space invites an openness in mindset and encourages us all to consider what learning “could” look like. 

A key to the establishing and maintaining high levels of learning in these environments lies in the strong professional relationships between staff. This week, our educators met to establish clear expectations and shared agreements around both student behaviour and pedagogy. Our aim was to create consistency, structure, and a calm learning atmosphere, ensuring that all students know what is expected of them so that they feel supported in their learning. At St Mary’s we are part of a dynamic, supportive team that values shared responsibility.
